Taking CNA classes in Chicago

If you are a resident of Chicago and are mulling over getting into the nursing field by becoming a certified nurse assistant, there is perfect way to do so. In the city, there are several community colleges, local hospitals and health care facilities as well as the American Red Cross Society that provide CNA classes in Chicago to potential CNAs. By attending these CNA classes, you will be basically trained and granted the knowledge and skills a qualified nurse assistant is expected to have.

For you to work as a certified nurse assistant, you must first complete the CNA training program. CNA classes in Chicago contain general nursing curriculum that will train you starting from the basics to the more crucial skills and procedures. The trainees will be taught various medical terminologies that are used mainly in hospitals and they will be trained in the proper handling of medical equipments and the carrying out of medical procedures. Patient and doctor assistance in a medical facility is also an important part of the training program.

Individuals interested in the CNA profession must first be at least sixteen years old or older and must obtain desirable scores on the college’s placement exam in order to be qualified to train. An applicant must also pass a criminal background check before he or she can train as a CNA. CNA classes in Chicago have a minimum of forty hours, with sixteen hours allotted for clinical training. Generally, the divided hours are the theoretical instruction together with the laboratory and clinical training. Indeed, this is a requirement mandated by the government.
